For this shot, I was standing probably where the 'M' used to be in this photo, looking the other way.
What an interesting photo night ... I went out, inpired by words sent to me by Juwan at madeyoulook ... a photoblog you should all check out.
I first stopped at this place, where the old Wal-Mart used to be. I later stopped in a sketchy part of town where kids walked by with their pitbulls, and trains were passing by under my feet (photos to be posted tomorrow).
Then I went to a local Confectionary called 'Fergie's Confectionary'. I sat and played with my camera to see the outcome at different settings. After about 10 minutes, a flustered counter-person lady came out, and in an uneducated tone said 'what do you think you're doing'. Supposing I was going to post these photos on a brand new www.fergiessucks.com website, I believe the act of photographing a public building is completely innocent. Anyone know the laws for this in Canada? I was reading about the laws in the US, and apparently, and building built before December 1st, 1990 may be photographed and the photos may be reproduced. Buildings built after this could be photographed from public space (the street). Or something like that.
Whatever. I left her sacred corner-store parking lot cause I felt I was making her uncomfortable. The victory, however, is hers, because she believes I left because she's correct that it's quote: 'illegal to take photos of a business.' Ha! That's fairly vague, no? I laugh at her. Laugh with me!
